"But I've Let Go Of So Much Already..."

Is organizing ever really done?

Simplifying our homes and our lives starts with one teeny, tiny step // letting go.

In order to simplify, we must create space.

In order to create space, we must let things go. Let them fly out of our home and out of lives. Free them. Which in turn frees us.

The natural response to this, "But Jennifer, I have let go of so much already! I've taken LOADS to the donation station!"

In that moment, what is being shared is that the spirit is tired of letting go. It is tired of making the decision, "do I want to keep this? yes or no?". It is tired of hauling things away.

It wants to know when it can move on.

Ideally, to the fun part like buying bins and containerizing the stuff or booking in family field trips on the calendar rather than doing laundry, buying groceries, and carting people around from obligation to obligation.

So in this moment, we need to pause and honor the spirit and give it "atta girl! job well done!". The fact that you've let go before means that you know about this freedom I speak of. You know that life goes on when we let things go, even if in the moment it feels terrible and just plain sucks.

GOOD JOB!!

Letting go is about releasing the excess. AND it is about prioritizing.

Who do I want to be?
What does that version of myself need?
What can I let go of NOW?

Allow me to remind us all that letting go is just one step on our journey to simplification. Another step that we must look at is our purchasing decisions.

Do I need to buy this ___?
Do I want to take up this new hobby?
Do I have the space for it? In my home? In my calendar?

Inspect the urge to buy, what is underlying the desire. Is it boredom? Is it lack of expression? What is it?
Keep going, continue to let go, you will know when it's time to move on. Energetically you will feel the difference (read: freedom).

It is a delicate dance between what you are letting go and what you are consuming.
