Sweetheart Scavengers: Feb 2020, Asheville, NC

Years ago, as in 10, I started a business with a blog and an email address. I had no idea what I was doing and how to run a business. Funny that they don’t teach you that in graduate business school. still pondering that investment

Given that I had no experience starting or running businesses, I did what any 20-something girl would do, I wrote on that little blog like it mattered.

I wrote whatever came to mind because I didn’t have enough client experience to write about that.

And I dumbed down my own organizing experience considering it too shallow, so I definitely didn’t write about that.

But I did write about our weekend excursions. Our jaunts through a town, usually our town of Charlotte. I would snap photos and come home to write about what we did, where we went, and what we ate.

It was fun and my 15 blog readers seemed to enjoy it.

Fast forward to 30-something me who has plenty of experience to fill a book on the meaning of the mess and the journey to live a simplified life, I decided it was time to interject some fun into this little space of the internet.

Sunday Scavenger is making a comeback! But this time as Sweetheart Scavenger. 1) because Raymond and I are high school sweethearts and 2) because it may not always be on a Sunday or a Saturday

We rounded the troops, as in Cody, and hit the road towards the mountain. Our first stop was an estate sale in Shelby, NC. We love meeting other liquidators, but mostly I love to browse the stuff and to check out the house.

This beauty did not disappoint, built in 1957. While it needed work and upgrades, you could just SEE the potential. The backyard pool and pool house was OH SO fancy!

Next stop was an open house in North Asheville. I spotted the 1927 stunner on realtor.com the night before and shared for the weeks #farmhousefriday (follow along on IG to see these beauties).

I can only imagine how gorgeous it was back in it’s heyday! The house had been recently renovated, but with class.

At this point, it was lunch or bust. You know the term “hangry”? I was reaching it quickly.

We drove down to a favorite tex-mex joint called Zia Taqueria. Their portabello taco is WAY better than it sounds.

We stopped by our favorite Bed & Breakfast to say hello and check out a few new updates.

If you want the best experience in Asheville, stay HERE.

Next up was Biltmore House. Thanks to my parents for sharing their passholder freebies, we were able to walk around the property and take in our favorite place in Asheville.

Given that we had Cody, we decided to explore the grounds rather than the house. We visited the horses and the chickens. We took a moment to practice some yoga in the midst of the farm animals. ;)

If it had been nicer outside, then we would have explored further, but the 30 degrees and wind kept us bundled up and ready to take it all in via car.

Before heading home, we stopped by Vortex Doughnuts for a vegan treat and cup of joe. It was the perfect way to end a day of exploration.

Until the next scavenger!
