Date Night Ideas & Outfits

Yesterday Raymond and I started our first marriage class. I fully believe that there is always room for improvement so when our church mentioned a 6-week marriage study with other newlyweds we signed up double fast.

There were three simple recommendations made last night that might not be groundbreaking or new but they sure can do wonders for your relationship.

  1. Pray with each other daily

  2. Date each other once a week

  3. Go on a marriage retreat (or a vacation) once a year

I loved all three but really got to thinking about the date night idea.

How can we make this fun? How can I take this more seriously?

DATE IDEAS

  • Brunch & morning walk

  • Coffee date

  • Lunch

  • Walking around a museum (or art gallery)

  • Playing tennis or pickleball

  • Dinner

  • Movie

  • Bowling

  • Playing a round of golf (of which I would just sit in the cart)

  • Go on a _____ scavenger hunt (we would likely pick an antique mall or thrift store)

  • Fondue Night

  • Picnic in the park or outdoor classical concert

  • Trail walking at a nearby park

  • Watch the sunset over a beautiful mountain or lake

  • Firepit & smores

My sister-in-law also introduced me to the Adventure Challenge. It is such a fun idea!

When it came to taking it more seriously, three things came to mind.

  1. Invest

  2. Dress up

  3. Schedule it

Investing in my relationship with both time and money will ALWAYS be worth it. So it might look like a dinner or a movie or a round of golf, but be sure to invest.

Scheduling it is more my cup of tea than Raymond’s but that is okay. Having it on the calendar ensures we won’t go weeks without going on a date. Some weeks I will have to get creative and maybe schedule a date breakfast rather than a dinner. Either way - ONCE a week! :)

And then for the dressing up. In an effort to feel and look my best without too much effort, I pulled together a few ideas for inspiration. I plan to keep this going with focusing on a color theme each season and then pulling outfits around that. For me, this makes it simple. However, that might be overkill for you. ;)

Do you date your spouse every week?

What are your go-to date ideas?
