Keep The Holidays Simple: Gift Guide

keep the holidays simple gift guide.png

The intention behind giving a gift is usually one of love and appreciation for the other person. However, for anyone who has gone through my Simplification Program, buying and giving stuff can rub you the wrong way. Especially after you’ve spent months creating space in your home and possible parting with well intended gifts that you received during a previous holiday season.

I am no Scrooge and believe that gift giving just needs a reframe. 1- We can reframe the amount of gifts we are buying and exchanging. Take the white elephant parties or the ornament swaps, if they are not your cup of tea, then ditch the exchange and just go for the party. No one will notice nor care (pinky swear nothing crossed).

But what about those people in your life that you want to exchange a small gift with; your mom, or sister, or bestie, what then? There is only so many candles and bottles of wine that can pass from one to another before the gift loses its luster.

In keeping with all things SIMPLE, here are my recommendations on gift ideas that are wearable, consumable, or usable and possibly outside the box of what to gift. Scroll down as I have some tips on how to wrap and present!

Volo Diffuser.jpg

Essential Oil Diffuser

I once bought a diffuser on Amazon and every time I ran it Raymond would say, “why does it smell like someone peed in here”. Totally not the look (or smell) I was going for. Last year I bought a diffuser from doTerra and have loved it! The quality is much better than the previous (no mold!) and it is easier to clean.

I highly recommend a high quality diffuser or this new diffuser/humidifier combination.

Essential Oil Blends (for the diffuser)

Round out the gift with a blend that smells homey and comforting. My all time favorite is OnGuard but I love this blend as well.

Essential Oil Roller Bottle

Instead of gifting perfume (and all their toxins) then try gifting a roller bottle blend. To present it, type up a card with details on what the oil does (calming? uplifting?) and where to roll it (bottoms of feet? wrists?). It is a small yet very thoughtful gift.

High Quality Vitamins

This seems a little weird but I can tell you that so many people have taken photos of my vitamin stash when they come to my house. Good quality vitamins are not always fun to research; if you have several go-to’s then consider gifting two or three along with a detail card on each.

Rescue & Renew Detox Soak #6810.png

Detox Bath Salts

Epsom salts are amazing but are a snooze fest when gifting. I love these salts and would add to it a small note that acts as a reminder on soaking weekly! Encouraging the use of the gift. ;)

Good Vibes Long Sleeve T-Shirt

We all need more reminders of having a good vibe AND who doesn’t love a long sleeve shirt!?

Nesting Place.jpg

The Nesting Place, by Myquillyn Smith

We all yearn for a peaceful home and two things that can stand in the way are 1- disorganization and 2- boring decor. My friend is massively talented and I adore her style of decorating and how she encourages you to shop your home and to break the decor rules all to make your house perfect for YOU! It is a beautiful book to decorate with as well!

Corkcicle + Organic Coffee (or Coffee Alternative)

I’ve had my Corkcicle for years and it is the best coffee tumbler I’ve owned. My coffee stays warm for hourssssss!! I also love my Yeti but I use it exclusively to keep my smoothies cold.

Round out this gift with a bag of organic, shade grown coffee (the absolute best!) or a coffee alternative like this one or this one.

Inkwell Press Calendar.jpg

Planner + Pens

The trend has been to plan the day and week using digital calendars for awhile, but most of us still love to SEE our stuff written down and planned out. The brain fires differently when we write out and visualize our week and our day rather than looking at it on a screen.

Complete the gift with a set of erasable pens - trust me on this one! They make paper planning fun and worthwhile!

**planner note: Inkwell Press is hands down my favorite planner on the market. The company sells customizable planners on their website but I love this simple planner available on Amazon. It is perfectly sized and priced!

Yarrow|Pom Face Serum + Microneedle Tool

When you look good, you feel good. When you feel good, your mood is 10x better than when you feel frumpy or saggy. I love to make skincare a daily self-love routine. I keep it simple with minimal products but make sure that I show my skin some love each and every day. I would pair these two together for an ultra luxe gift!
