Cozy Bedroom Inspiration
Do you have an ever revolving list of projects to do around the house?
It seems that we get one thing done and then three others pop up.
There are three rooms in our home that I need updating:
The Master Bedroom
The Office
I’ve yet to get the landing zone shored up, mainly due to a rearrangement of furniture that resulted in two chairs landing in that open space. The chairs are not permanent but where to move them has me stumped.
But I digress.
Today is about the bedroom.
We are renting an adorable Sears-Roebuck cottage home built in the ‘30s. It is short on space but makes up for it with all its charming details.
When we moved, I set up our bedroom with a nice plain black upholstered headboard that I found at a local thrift store. It worked fine until I could find something else that better suited my style…I mean our style.
Not long after, we upgraded the headboard to a beautiful upholstered option like this one from Pottery Barn.
It is still one of my favorite pieces in our home!
We moved the bed to the guest room as Raymond insisted on a king Tempur-pedic mattress. While I LOVE the mattress, I have yet to replace the bed.
So here we are sleeping on a wonderful mattress that sits on the floor. College living style. ;)
Raymond and I don’t exactly see eye-to-eye when it comes to decorating choices, which prolongs the process even more.
He is more of a Biltmore House meets Italian Manor while I’m all for light, bright, and airy with a hint of farmhouse.
I spent many a night scrolling Pinterest for inspiration and think I’m getting close to pulling the trigger on a few key pieces.
Mainly, the headboard, new nightstands, and possibly an antique wardrobe or highboy.
We currently have too much furniture in a small space, however in order to downsize, we need to get smart with any new furniture selections.

I love the platform beds with built-in storage. I call that “smart furniture”.
And the armoire is a bit old school but it works great when you need more hanging storage space.
When it comes to nightstands, I ALWAYS gravitate to something with drawers rather than a simple table with no storage space.
Furniture should work for you, not against you.
What is your go-to furniture brand? Are you a DIY-er or a buyer?
I like to think I am a little of both. ;)
